Designworld are proud to have worked on the first illustrated book of post-war artists and applied artists in Wales

Today, it was with great delight that we received the first published copies of the book Post-War to Post-Modern: A Dictionary of Artists in Wales. This has been the long-term project of joint Editors Peter Jones and Isabel Hitchman to produce the first illustrated book with profiles of visual and applied artists/makersin Wales over the last sixty years.

Designworld were brought on board in mid-2014 to design the overall style, page layouts and cover and produce the final artwork. It has been a mammoth – but thoroughly enjoyable – job to typeset English and Welsh language versions of the Dictionary with over 800 pages in each.

The Dictionary is a major academic reference work with profiles of nearly 1400 visual and applied artists working in traditional and new media in Wales over the last sixty years. The hard-back book has over 300 full colour illustrations and a scholarly introductory essay by artist and art historian Dr Ivor Davies.

Beautifully printed, bound and published in Wales by Gomer Press of Llandysul this really is a handsome edition and is something that we are very proud to be associated with. We’re now looking forward to attending the official book launch on March 26th at National Museum Wales, Cardiff.

“Many thanks again for your colossal work to make the Dictionary look so good”
